First collaboration between Rogério Nuno Costa (PT/FI) and the artist collective Recover Laboratory (FI), KAKSIKIELINEN takes the play “Bilingue/Bilingual” by José Maria Vieira Mendes as a dramaturgical starting point, at the same time poetic and political, suggesting the building of a post-linguistic manifesto by means of performance and performativity. Sustained by operations of translation and retroversion, subtitling and interpretation, imagination and invocation, the work aims to reveal the speeches (and their failures) emerging from the tensional space that separates two mother tongues, analysing incomprehension as a promise of multiplicity. Language as exile and as condominium.

Rogério Nuno Costa (Portugal/Finland) is a performer, theatre director, writer, researcher, educator and curator. Para-artistic and cross-disciplinary in nature, his work falls within the broad field of live art, problematising and speculating on the connections that link performance art and theatre, documentary practices, autofictional writing, pop culture and communication sciences. He collaborates with several artists as dramaturg/dramaturgist and editor.

Recover Laboratory is an art collective operating in Finland and internationally, producing up to two new performances per year since 2014. Their work is multidisciplinary, with a strong emphasis on experimentality within the fields of contemporary circus (Miradonna Sirkka) and visual arts (Sofi Häkkinen). Musician Aleksi Kinnunen is a regular collaborator. At the core of the group’s expertise are participatory and immersive works.
