The cross-disciplinary project Corpo, created by Ana Luena & José Miguel Soares and Nuno Nolasco, explores questions of identity in relation to the body as other. However, the body is not merely a body, it changes with the evolution of culture, science, technology and artificial intelligence. This experimental project is grounded on the concept that existence and life are perceptions composed of myriad simultaneous sensations and that our world is not just one and our body is not just one either, it is multiple. The Ilha Corpo residency, which took place in Évora, was the first moment of investigation and research into essays, and references about the body, in which the writer Filipa Leal created the original text that serves as the dramaturgy for the show. The Slowness of the World. Three bodies, three voices, three times. The woman calmly cleaning the pool, or the woman lying down, picking oranges. The athlete or swimmer, the boy who lives for speed. The man sitting down, or the ageing father who has never seen himself in the mirror. Three characters whose bodies contain several bodies, in a game of identities that change in their relationship with each other, in their relationship with life itself, moving forward more or less intensely, more or less painfully, more or less slowly.
