Errante, a creation by Ana Luena & José Miguel Soares, is inspired by the relationship between the migrant and the concept of “terrain vague” as an expectant, abandoned, more or less delimited space that inhabits the heart of the city. These patches of “non-city” and “nobody” are spaces that are absent, ignored or have fallen into disuse. It is interesting to deepen the idea of oblivion, but also of vague, imprecise and uncertain (which the meaning of the word in French carries) and of foreign, in the broadest sense of the term. Whoever crosses them is the wanderer, the foreigner, the errant. In the show Errante, the cartography is that of the personal territory, of the one who walks hesitantly, who wavers, who inevitably makes mistakes. A dramaturgy based on error is built, through a double facet of fiction and reality to construct a show that assumes conference premises. We are radically social and lonely, contradictory and wandering. The scenic text (by Teresa Coutinho) is based on a reflection on fear and the challenges of practising otherness, mirroring prejudices and fears through a succession of episodes and events around the difficulty of accepting what is foreign to us.

Malvada Associação Artística is a structure financed by the República Portuguesa - Cultura / Direção-Geral das Artes, with the support of Município de Évora
Founded in 2018 by Ana Luena and José Miguel Soares, the duo responsible for the artistic creations and direction of this project rooted in Évora, Malvada sees a peripheral territory as a centre of contemporary artistic creation and reflection.
Malvada’s purpose is to bring to life creation projects which scope different knowledge and art fields, frequently mixing disciplines such as photography, video, literature, music, theatre and performance. Malvada promotes activities of artistic creation and reception, involving the community through active participation in mediation activities, educational service, accessibility, and social inclusion, potentiating a relationship of closeness between diverse audiences and artwork.
Malvada achieves artistic projects which stem from the exploration of concepts in a multidimensional approach. The creative processes, worked through overlapping layers, include activities and creations intertwined within the same project. The multiplicity of its manifestations results in shows, installations, exhibitions, editions, performances, site specific projects and hybrid art objects. These creations are conceptualized in artistic residencies, which aim at deepening and/or reinforcing the team’s connections to the territories.
