Algures | numa mutação feérica is the title of an interdisciplinary creation project that intersects choreographic gestures with the act of composing and constructing an installation object within the realm of drawing.
I have been particularly interested in using non-extractive materials or reusing materials that, for various reasons, have lost their function — mostly gathered from walking processes or, more recently, visits to decommissioned factories, for example. For this project, the chosen material will be cardboard, commonly found discarded outside stores or markets at the end of the day.
After collecting the cardboard, I will undergo a studio experimentation phase with the material itself. My goal is to craft a series of small pieces, each highlighting specific characteristics that naturally vary—not only in tone but also in texture, volume, weight, and achieved form. The forms will be geometric, ranging from straight lines to curves and curvilinear shapes. I am interested in constructing these distinct cardboard pieces as if assembling a puzzle. The drawing will evolve in a cellular manner, by joining the various pieces, ultimately resulting in a single figure.
The performance will consist of a set of simple actions such as building, composing, and drawing — and consequently decorating, placing, relocating, transferring, joining, separating, positioning, or repositioning the pieces and their gradual outcome. At the end, there will be an installation whose completed drawing emerges from a reflection and investigation on the idea of “landscape.” It is as if each piece belonged to a fragment of a larger landscape.
