At its core, missed tones, missed meaning, missed moments opens a field of choreographic vocal research where we work on a solo practice grounded in voice, rhythm, to explore different states of aggregation. Inspired by the shifting perception in Clarice Lispector’s writings and her logic of dissolving the self, the work moves through the unstable space between sound and meaning, between what is said and what escapes articulation.
Together, we explore how a solo practice can hold multiplicity, how one voice can become many through rhythm, breath, and resonance. The solo unfolds as a living score of missed tones and missed meanings, an ongoing attempt to listen through the gaps of language. Failure, awkwardness, and dissonance are treated as openings for new forms of expression and affective understanding. The voice becomes a moving body, a rhythmic texture of emotion and hesitation. Through fragmented text, breath-based articulation, and physical resonance, the practice explores how sense is generated not through clarity but through vibration, interruption, and persistence.
During the residency, we seek these different modes of speaking and listening. The solo becomes a space of porous communication, where meaning dissolves and reappears, where the struggle to find the right tone becomes a way of staying with ambivalence.
