No Way Back to Eden is the title of this project, which will culminate in a multimedia performance of the same name. António Olaio and Richard Strange are now joined by artists André Sier and Silvestre Correia, expanding the conceptual complexity of multimedia and performance possibilities.

Inspired by the relationship between two paintings Marcel Duchamp created on opposite sides of the same canvas, Adam and Eve in Paradise and The King and Queen Surrounded by Swift Nudes, this piece thrives on the vertigo of a humanity drifting away from a primal unity toward a state of becoming. Here, possibilities blur the contours of the human as it extends into the artificial, eventually becoming indistinguishable from it. Indeed, there is no possibility of returning to Paradise.

This will be a piece of striking formal and narrative plasticity. António Olaio, Silvestre Correia, and Richard Strange will be the protagonists of the action, on stage and/or on video, while André Sier controls the multimedia elements live, attuned to the rhythms and breathing of the performance.

The performers act as characters in a strange laboratory, creating heads as if they were creating and recreating new versions of Humanity. Many other performers will appear on video as human heads that emerge whenever a new head is created on stage. These heads converse with one another, appearing and disappearing; they remain or are discarded. They talk as if possessing a will of their own, yet perhaps doubt their actual existence as human beings, unable to distinguish the human from the artificial.

The final monologue by one of the main characters reveals his memory of having been everyone. He was Adam, he knows he was, yet he barely remembers it...
