Greenhouse, by Belisa Branças, is the winning project of the 5th edition of Projeto Casa, an initiative jointly promoted by O Espaço do Tempo, Cineteatro Louletano and Centro Cultural Vila Flor.
Projeto Casa aims to foster the creation of new work in the performing arts while contributing to the sustainable development of artists' careers. For this edition, a single project was selected to be developed in 2027, receiving a total grant of €25,000, a seven-week residency at O Espaço do Tempo, an additional residency of approximately one week in a rehearsal and working space, and one week of technical set-up and rehearsals at the venue of the world premiere.
Greenhouse, by Belisa Branças, was selected as the winning project for this 5th edition. Described as a theatre piece "with a strong physical and movement-based component, grounded in true stories, reflecting on the contemporary waste market", it stems from Branças' desire "to bring to the stage what recycling systems and green certifications conceal: the global waste market and the lives it consumes." The work will premiere at Cineteatro Louletano, in Loulé, on 18 September 2027, before being presented at Centro Cultural Vila Flor, in Guimarães, on 2 October 2027.
The jury was composed of Rui Horta and Patrícia Carvalho (O Espaço do Tempo), Bruno dos Reis and Marta Silva (CCVF / A Oficina), and Elisa Almeida and Dália Paulo (Cineteatro Louletano).
In 2026, the two winning projects from the 4th edition of Projeto Casa are being presented. Álbum de Família, by Lúcia Pires, premiered on 5 June 2026 as part of the Festivais Gil Vicente. Kitada, by Marga Alfeirão, will premiere at Cineteatro Louletano on 18 September 2026.
Since 2022, Projeto Casa has supported the creation of eight projects by artists based in Portugal: Um Quarto só para Si, by the cultural association Silent Party (2022); Campo – Força – Chama, by Josefa Pereira (2022); Volta para a Tua Terra, by Keli Freitas (2023); Musseque, by Fábio Januário (2023); Se não for Tu, by Era Rolim (2024); Bright Horses, by Carminda Soares and Maria R. Soares (2024); Álbum de Família, by Lúcia Pires (2025); and Kitada, by Marga Alfeirão (2025).
