"Bazm (Repertoire)", by Armin Hokmi

FELD/LAB

August 27th, 2025

Armin Hokmi spent two weeks in residency with the project Bazm (Repertoire), using these two words as a starting point for research that, at O Espaço do Tempo, unfolded into the exploration and development of different choreographic vocabularies. Repertoire, on one hand, evokes the notion of an archive of dances and choreographies, allowing for the construction of a “false repertoire” that opens up space for new languages. Bazm, meanwhile, is a Farsi word that refers to a collective gathering marked by poetry, music, and dance.

The Iranian choreographer and performer began his artistic journey in 2009. His work investigates how dance and choreography can function as tools for engaging with audiences, questioning formats of presentation and stage conventions. He currently lives between Berlin and Oslo.

A project hosted within the framework of FELD/LAB, an initiative supported by the Goethe-Institut in Portugal and in partnership with Coffeepaste.
