Drawing on ideas of hauntology and post-historical melancholy, Blissfully is a new choreographic research project exploring an urgent contradiction of today: on one hand, the body’s desire for excess and intimacy; on the other, the privileged impulse to withdraw from a world in which the imagination of alternatives appears exhausted.

The research turns to different ways movement can function as a system of belief. Cultural references, pop iconography, melodramatic gestures, and gendered grief become portals into fictional archival formats that generate their own patterns, relations, and forms of knowledge. Dance in this way becomes a way of staying with the unknown, a collective technology for dealing with uncertainty, loss, and the difficulty of imagining the future.
