A performance that opens for another artist, occupies the main stage, and questions hierarchies and mechanisms of visibility in the artistic milieu, exploring the figure of the “opening act” as a metaphor for exclusion and resistance. By problematizing the binomial “headliner” ⎯ “emerging artist,” Plataforma285 reflects on the legitimacy of the existence of a ‘supporting’ and a “main act,” while questioning the set of rules that establish these definitions.

PLATAFORMA285 is a multidisciplinary collective founded in 2011 and based in Lisbon. Working collaboratively, the company has developed more than 24 creations, as well as cultural mediation, artistic research and programming projects, in partnership with institutions such as CCB, Culturgest, maat, TNDMII, São Luiz, A Oficina, Teatro Aveirense and Serralves. It seeks original dramaturgy based on non-theatricality and new creative languages, building realities inhabited by performers rather than characters.
