In Olvidar, a new creation by the artist duo Ana Luena & José Miguel Soares, the creative force and regenerative capacity of forgetting are explored. This project, situated at the intersection of performance, photography, video, and audio, develops the idea of reconstruction (or re-creation) as a way to address questions of presence and absence. What may have been abandoned or disappeared is recorded and manipulated. Through attentive listening to territories and communities that have undergone processes of erasure or profound transformation, narratives are constructed, drawing on the memories of some and the zones of forgetting of others. These elements shape a fragmented, attentive, and permeable dramaturgy, composed of subtle presences, silences, traces, and shadowed areas. The creation is inspired by the idea that remembering is a selective act, and that forgetting can also be a gesture of resistance — a defense against an excess of events or the imposition of dominant narratives.
