YESTERDAY´S TOMORROWS is a series of short performances conceived by Brazilian choreographer Gustavo Ciríaco especially for the public space. Inspired by two influential pedagogical strategies, the presentations have as their common basis the idea of learning as a practice for achieving freedom. Gustavo Ciríaco mixes the approach of German theorist Friedrich Fröbel, creator of the kindergarten, who uses play as an essential tool for understanding the materialities at work in the world, and the perspective of renowned Brazilian educator and philosopher Paulo Freire, who advocates a critical pedagogy where the learner is recognised as a co-creator of knowledge.
