das cinzas ou das brasas is a play originally written in 2024 for the New Playwriting Prize for Female Authors, promoted by Cepa Torta, for which the play was a finalist. The play follows a ride-hailing (TVDE) journey across Portuguese territory, between an immigrant driver and a Portuguese passenger, as a means of reflecting on the country’s migration policy, the persistence of discrimination and labour exploitation against immigrants, and human trafficking in Portugal.
