Artistic residency hosted within the framework of an artistic exchange partnership between O Espaço do Tempo and TROIS C-L, in Luxembourg.
Anne-Mareike Hess’s new solo in the air asks how a body can remain responsive in a world that both overwhelms and numbs sensation. Set within a carefully constructed artificial landscape, a solitary figure oscillates between the figures of Narcissus, encountering only herself, and Echo, endlessly seeking relation. Hess’s choreographic work, known for its combination of physical precision and emotional intensity, engages with a contemporary condition of saturation and fatigue, where attention is strained and feeling risks becoming blunted. Questioning whether sensation and connection might still be possible, in the air unfolds as a quiet search for resonance, not offering resolution but testing what it means to stay porous in a world that demands hardness.
