O Estado do Tempo is an initiative organized by O Espaço do Tempo that began in 2024 and comprises a series of talks and the publishing of a collection of zines on various topics of our time.

In each talk, there will be a general theme that will be discussed by the people invited, as well as the participation of the present audience. Each of these talks, which will happen in different locations in Montemor-o-Novo, will result in a publication that will bring together photographic records, transcriptions, texts, and original graphic creations.

The next talk of O Estado do Tempo will be on December 13, around 4pm, at a location yet to be defined, where we will discuss the theme Comida: Produção, Acessibilidade e Consumo (Food: Production, Acessibility and Consumption).

For this meeting, we are pleased to welcome the following participants:

  • • Anabela Ferreira
  • • Berta Valente
  • • José João Rodrigues

ANABELA FERREIRA. A professional in the arts and sociocultural action, trained in Theatre at ESMAE, with national and international experience, notably the RHINOCEROS project at Expo '98. She co-founded the Traquinas Índios e Sábios Cooperative and has worked since 1999 in the municipality of Montemor-o-Novo, where she develops educational, intercultural and cultural projects. With a transdisciplinary approach guided by a humanist vision of public health, she examines obesity through epidemiological, sociological and health-economics perspectives. Her work focuses on the complexity of the determinants of health and on how they manifest in food practices and bodies shaped by socially constructed dispositions and social hierarchies that reinforce and perpetuate inequalities.

JOSÉ JOÃO RODRIGUES is a sociocultural animator, activist, and driving force behind the Casa do Sal Project in Figueira da Foz, which creates products and services linked to salt farming. He organised and currently leads the Collaborative Local Production Networks of Baixo Mondego.
