Projeto Casa

Winning projects of the 4th edition

July 7th, 2025

Álbum de Família by Lúcia Pires and Kitada by Marga Alfeirão are the two projects selected for the 4th edition of Projeto Casa, an initiative promoted by O Espaço do Tempo, Cineteatro Louletano, and Centro Cultural Vila Flor.

Projeto Casa aims to stimulate creation in the fields of dance, theatre, performance, and interdisciplinary practices, while contributing to the sustainable development of artistic careers in these areas. Each grant, amounting to a total of €25,000, includes a residency of approximately seven weeks at O Espaço do Tempo, an additional one-week rehearsal and work residency, and a final week for set-up and rehearsals at the venue of the piece’s world premiere.

In the field of theatre and interdisciplinary practices, the selected project is Álbum de Família by Lúcia Pires, chosen for the uniqueness and richness of its poetic and conceptual approach. Through the combination of multiple disciplines and references, it proposes the creation of a performance exploring the nature of photographic imagery and its multiple connections with the evocation of memory and the scenic materialization of a show. It will premiere as part of the Festivais Gil Vicente at Centro Cultural Vila Flor on June 5, 2026.

In the field of dance and interdisciplinary practices, the selected project is Kitada by Marga Alfeirão, praised for the power and relevance of its choreographic proposal, which "investigates desire, eroticism, and the political potential of the older feminine." The project intersects the middle-aged female body with the universe of tuning (modified cars) as a metaphor and driving force to reflect on transformation, desire, and autonomy. It will premiere at Cineteatro Louletano on September 18, 2026.

The jury was composed of Pedro Barreiro and Patrícia Carvalho from O Espaço do Tempo; Rui Torrinha and Marta Silva from Centro Cultural Vila Flor / A Oficina; and Paulo Silva and Dália Paulo from Cineteatro Louletano.

Since 2022, Projecto Casa has supported the creation of six projects by artists in Portugal: Um Quarto só para Si by silentparty; Campo - Força - Chama by Josefa Pereira; Volta para a Tua Terra by Keli Freitas; Musseque by Fábio Januário; Se não for Tu by Era Rolim; and Bright Horses by Carminda Soares and Maria R. Soares, which will premiere at Cineteatro Louletano on September 19, 2025.
