Se não for tu, by Era Rolim, and Bright Horses, by Carminda Soares and Maria R. Soares, are the two projects selected for the 3rd edition of Projecto Casa, an initiative promoted by O Espaço do Tempo, Cineteatro Louletano, and Centro Cultural Vila Flor.
Projecto Casa aims to encourage creation in the fields of dance, theater, and interdisciplinary crossovers, and to contribute to the sustainable development of artists' careers in these areas. Each grant, totaling €25,000, includes a residency of about seven weeks at O Espaço do Tempo and another residency of approximately two weeks at the venue of the work's world premiere.
In the area of theater and interdisciplinary crossovers, Se não for tu, by Era Rolim, was selected. This project explores the organizational, social, and political implications of creating contemporary art and stood out for its poetic uniqueness and inventive combination of different media, techniques, and disciplines. It will premiere at the Festivais Gil Vicentes at Centro Cultural Vila Flor on June 5, 2025.
In the field of dance and interdisciplinary crossovers, the project Bright Horses by Carminda Soares and Maria R. Soares, was selected. This project critically reflects on ideas of competition in today's capitalist society by creating "three choreographic dialogues between twin siblings who position themselves in territories that evoke dispute, aggression, mourning, farewell, affection, and illustrate the complexity of family relationships as microcosms of broader social dynamics." It will premiere at Cineteatro Louletano in September 2025.
The jury consisted of Pedro Barreiro and Patrícia Carvalho from O Espaço do Tempo; Rui Torrinha and Marta Silva from Centro Cultural Vila Flor/A Oficina; and Paulo Silva and Dália Paulo from Cineteatro Louletano.
Since 2022, Projecto Casa has supported the creation of four projects by artists based in Portugal: Um Quarto só para Si, by the cultural association Silent Party; Campo - Força - Chama, by Josefa Pereira; Volta para a Tua Terra, by Keli Freitas; and Musseque, by Fábio Januário, which will have its world premiere on November 15 of this year at Cineteatro Louletano.
