Beyond the physical, chemical, and mystical processes that occur in the brain, it is not entirely clear to anyone what is actually happening inside it. Some say the brain commands the body; others shout, "No, no! It’s the body that’s in charge of everything!" There are even those who think the brain is just a soft mass that, when well-cooked, makes for excellent delicacies. But Dentro da Cabeça (Inside the Head) there are also the nose and the mouth with a tongue inside… Oh, and the eyes too… Phew, the ears as well! So many things!

Can a body outmanoeuvre itself on the field? Can wild horses and mares gallop backwards as an escape from a destructive future? Life as the plague and youth as the mountain. And we go to the top of the mountain not to enter it, but to leave ourselves behind, to let the horses and mares run free, towards death or purification.

Wild Territory is a two-part theater piece inspired by the experience of actors Pedro Gil and Raquel Castro as father and mother of two daughters. Together with writer Miguel Castro Caldas, they invented a daughter character for whom they also invented a father character, a mother character, and a younger sister character, among others.
